Dr Scott Cresswell – Mental Skills for your Sport
Scott has PhD from the University of Western Australia and a Masters degree in Physical Education from Otago University. Since 1997 he has worked with junior to elite and professional athletes in a range of different sports. In 2008 and 2012 he supported the NZL Sailing team onsite at the Olympic Games. Past clients include England Rugby, New Zealand Rugby Union, NZL Sailing Team, Silver Ferns Netball, New Zealand Academy of Sport and Triathlon New Zealand.In this interactive session Scott will identify the mental characteristics of top performers and share how practical skills they have used to develop and maintain this edge.
Confident Self-Talk – what do top athletes say to themselves during training and competition.
Relaxation – what can you do to maintain the right level of focus and nerves prior to and during a race.
Visualisation – developing your physical skills and confidence through good mental preparation.
You will leave with some really applicable skills that you can practice while training and competing - making your experience of sport more rewarding.
