If you fancy getting your feet dirty and exploring the Waitakeres with a trail run, then this one is pretty epic to start with.
Only 11km in distance but not for the faint hearted as it will feel more like 16-18km. There are hills to be walked that will keep your heart rate racing but with that aside the scenery is stunning taking in the pipeline rail tracks, waterfalls, train tunnels the dam and some awesome bush. The route takes in the Andersons Track, West Tunnel Track, Tramline walk, Fence line Track, Long Road and Upper Kauri Track.
This will be a no ego, no drop run but you will need to be moderately fit and have good ankles!. Getting muddy wet feet will be a certainty so bring a change of clothing.
The run will take between 1.30 -2 hours depending on the number of selfie stops followed by a stiff coffee at the local café after.
A hydration pack is not a necessity but recommended as it the right attire to put layers on or off as required.
Assembly will be in the Falls road Car park off Te Henga drive through the Waitakere Golf Course. Be there by 7.30 ready to run by 7.40 on the 27th May!
We will run in light rain but watch the BSTC Facebook page if the weather is marginal for a call by 6.30am
